It's Almost Here!

The Charleston Area Alliance and title sponsor BB&T are pleased to host the 2008 Annual Celebration May 6 at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences.

The year’s keynote speaker is Brad Smith, president and CEO of Intuit, Inc., the maker of best selling financial software such as TurboTax and QuickBooks. A native of Kenova, he became the company’s president and CEO in January of 2008, culminating a five-year rise through the company during which he successfully led each of its major businesses. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Marshall University and a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College in Michigan.

The Annual Celebration also will feature the 2008 “Expect the Best” award presentations. This year’s winners are Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe, PLLC (large organization); Blue Smoke Salsa, Inc. (small organization); the Appalachian Association of Professional Musicians, Local 136 (non-profit); and the University of Charleston, the “Simply the Best” Award of Distinction recipient.

In addition, College Summit, a locally implemented non-profit organization committed to ensuring all West Virginia students who can succeed make it to college, will be presenting scholarships to three area high school students.

The VIP Sponsors are Appalachian Power, Arnett & Foster, Dow, Marriott Charleston Town Center, Motion Master and Rashid Brothers.

The VIP reception for sponsors only begins at 5:15 p.m. The grand reception follows at 6 p.m., and the main program begins at 7 p.m.

Grand reception tickets are $150 per person for Alliance members and $200 per person for non-members.
