Marshall University Announces ThuderFest in Cincinnati



Marshall University and the Cincinnati Reds are teaming up later this month.

The MU Club of Cincinnati, the Marshall University Alumni Association and the Big Green Scholarship Foundation are pleased to announce the 2008 Great American ThunderFest and Big Green Coaches Tour Weekend which will be taking place in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1.

Marshall University alumni, fans and friends are invited to gather together in Cincinnati to celebrate a special day for the Marshall University community at Great American Ballpark when the Reds host the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, May 31.

Many special events are planned at the game, including a pre-game reception inside Great American Ballpark that will include guests from Marshall University and the Cincinnati Reds organization, special Marshall University recognition during the game, performance by the ThunderTones, a Huntington vocal ensemble, during the 7th Inning Stretch, and special Marshall University “first-pitch” honors prior to the start of the game.

On Sunday, June 1, the Big Green Coaches Tour rolls into Cincinnati and will put a capstone on the weekend with a golf scramble and a reception / dinner event at Legendary Run Golf Course. Marshall Coaches and former Marshall Athletes including former Marshall great and NFL tight end Mike Bartrum and Herd basketball player Mark Dorris will be on hand for the golf and the dinner at Legendary Run. Marshall Coaches will provide attendees with an update on Marshall athletic programs and Mike Bartrum will be available to meet and greet Marshall fans and alumni.
